Privacy Policy

WebsiteGlue runs free local SEO and AI ranking scans. This page explains what we collect when you use the site, why we collect it and how to have it deleted. We do not sell your data.

Who we are

WebsiteGlue operates websiteglue.com. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean WebsiteGlue, and “you” means anyone who visits the site or runs a scan. You can reach us at hello@websiteglue.com.

What we collect from you

When you run a competitor scan or an AI ranking check, we collect:

  • Your email address, so we can send your verification code and your results.
  • The location, industry and website you enter, so we know what to scan.
  • Your IP address and browser type at the moment you request a code. We use these to limit abuse, such as one person requesting codes in bulk.
  • The verification code we send you. We store it in scrambled (hashed) form, never as plain text.
  • The scan results we build for you.

A free scan needs only your email. We do not ask for your name, a password or a phone number.

If you create an account or pay

Accounts are optional. If you sign in, Clerk handles the sign-in and stores your email address and, if you choose, your name or the Google account you sign in with. We keep your plan, how many scans you ran this month and the scans you ran.

If you buy a plan, Stripe collects and stores your card details. We never see or store your full card number. We keep the Stripe customer and subscription IDs so we know which plan you are on and when it renews.

What we collect when you browse

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use. Google Analytics sets cookies and records things like the pages you view, your device and browser, and your approximate location based on your IP address. We use these reports in aggregate to improve the site.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser stores that choice on your device. It is not sent to us.

Information about the businesses we scan

A scan looks up businesses in the location and industry you enter. For each one we collect public information: its Google listing (name, address, phone, rating, review counts, review dates and photo counts) and the public pages of its website, including its robots.txt file. We read only pages anyone can open without logging in.

We do not contact the businesses that appear in a scan. If you own a business that appeared in a scan and want its results removed, email us and we will delete them.

How we use your information

  • To run the scan you asked for.
  • To email you your verification code and a link to your results.
  • To prevent abuse and keep the service running.
  • To understand how people use the site and improve it.

We only email you about scans you request. We do not send marketing emails, newsletters or sales outreach, and we do not add you to a mailing list. If that changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use your email for anything other than your scans.

Services that process data for us

We use a small set of providers to run WebsiteGlue. Each one handles data only to provide its service to us.

  • Railway hosts the website, the scanner and the database.
  • Clerk runs sign-in for accounts.
  • Stripe takes payments for paid plans.
  • Resend delivers our emails. It receives your email address and the email content.
  • Google provides business listings (Google Places) and site analytics (Google Analytics).
  • Perplexity answers a sample question during some scans, such as “Who are the best roofers in Denver, CO?” We send the industry and location only. We do not send your email.

Who can see your results

Your results live at a private link with a long random code in it. We do not list results pages in search engines. Anyone who has the link can open the report, so share it only with people you want to see it.

How long we keep it

Verification codes expire shortly after we send them. We keep your email, scan details and results so your results link keeps working. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete your data. Email hello@websiteglue.com from the address you used for your scans. We will delete your email address, scans and results within 30 days and confirm when it is done.
  • See or correct your data. Email us and we will send you what we hold or fix it.
  • Block analytics. You can block cookies in your browser or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The scanner works either way.

Depending on where you live, including Virginia, California and the European Union, you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to object to how we use it. Email us to use any of these rights. We will not treat you differently for using them.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Verification codes are stored hashed, and access to the database is limited to the services that run WebsiteGlue. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you.

Children

WebsiteGlue is a business tool and is not meant for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the site, email us and we will delete their information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use your email, such as starting a newsletter, we will tell you before it takes effect.

Using the site also means agreeing to our Terms of Service.
